I was going though my photos and filtering out the duplicates and uglies and came upon this happy photo taken last spring in Palm Springs. We’re heading again there for Christmas this year and I can hardly contain my excitement to be work-free for about 10 days (don’t worry clients, we’re working hard before we leave). Here are a few of my favorite textures that I’ve taken lately with my camera – isn’t texture just amazing?

These proofs for Brittany are in the final stages of implementation. After presenting her logos for her branding package, brittany narrowed it down and we indicated options and alternatives from the scheme she had selected. What is your favorite? Upon completing her branding and refinement with typography, colormetrics and styling, we presented business card layouts for Brittany in The Euro 1.5×3.5″, The Square 2.5×2.5″, and Standard 2×3.5″. These CD cases were letterpress printed with 1 ink color on a 1ply chipboard. Stacy found the cases online and since they shipped flat/unfolded, they were perfect for feeding into the press. I found this the other day when cleaning out my photos again. Shot in November while on a nature walk with the kids, I was reminded that texture can be applied in numerous ways to enhance design. Interesting how sometimes we forget that it’s all around us, often in the simplest form of nature. How cool would this pattern be as a blind impression in some yoga cards or something?

I keep getting emails asking how I light my photos. I’m by NO means a good photographer, however since I’ve owned the Canon Digital Rebel Xsi I have to confess that although I’d like to take full credit for my photos, I really think it’s all the camera (and a little research on the side). I have a 50mm f1.8 fixed lens. I never shoot with my flash, and to learn the focusing and aperature/speed properties I shot in manual mode for a long time to try to learn to feel my camera. The lower the “f” number the more light is let into the camera (and the more bokeh). I like to shoot during the day in indirect light. It makes for the most true colors which is crucial for product photos. My product and kids shots are almost always a …
