My mom is an amazing writer. Having the opportunity to grow up around this lovely writing talent, I often saw her writing in journals, taking notes in books she was reading, and annotating and critiquing our English papers. One of my most prized possessions however was not toys or jewelery – but journals. Each time she gave birth, my mother had a journal that she bought for each of us in which there were a series of letters written. Throughout our childhood, she’d read to us from the journals on occasion which always recorded funny sayings, happenings in our lives and on advice from an amazing mother. As a teenager my mom gave me one of the best gifts ever, a journal that all the women in my family had written in. Both grandmothers, 10 aunts, cousins, youth leaders, neighbors – all bearing the things of their souls. To this day, I pull out that journal on days that don’t go so well and read advice from people important to me who continue to inspire through their words. Then I get on with life.

Although my mom has yet to write the great american novel, she has succeeded to instill a love for journaling in our family. I feel I already have the great american novel through my journals she’s filled for me. As a continuation of the tradition she started, each one of my kids has their own journals that I write in.

I’ve been looking for a good one for Charlie since he was born and came across Karleigh Jae’s Etsy shop, and ironically had hearted the yellow journal shown above MONTHS ago! I just had to get them as Charlie needed a journal, and Dave’s journal has finally reached it’s last few pages. Yeah for beautiful books, thanks Karleigh Jae I can’t wait to get started writing in them.

So I haven’t given any Etsy love recently, but I came upon Bella Fresca because she had hearted my own shop. SO glad I checked it out. Boy was I surprised when upon clicking through I immediately felt like I was transported to the tropics. Look at her fabulous soaps and then drop her a note wishing her luck as she just opened in June. Breathtaking, I can practically smell them through my monitor! BellaFresca Soaps

    Lizzy House, YourCarSeatCover.Etsy.Com

So I’ve been looking for a well made customized carseat cover for each of my kids – never had any luck finding one that didn’t look like a bag – maybe I didn’t look hard enough. Sorry Graco, you just don’t cut it when it comes to designing fabric :(

Red Letter Day, Lizzy House, Carseat Cover, YourCarseatCover.Etsy.com

I did one more search a few weeks back on Etsy to find the new shop YourCarseatCover
and after looking at closeup shots of Heather’s photos I thought I’d give it a try. And I really wanted to be her first buyer! So I ordered some of my new favorite fabric by designer Lizzy House from her new collection Red Letter Day. You can find it here at FreshSqueezedFabrics on Etsy too!

As you can see in the results above, FABULOUS! I was beyond thrilled and will be gushing about Heather and her impeccible sewing skillz forever. I sew a lot so can recognize master craftsmanship when I see it, something I have yet to attain in that arena!

Be sure to check her out because the best part of it all? It was only $45 for a custom cover, headrest, and canopy (not including fabric). Thanks to FreshSqueezed for working with my demanding shipping needs, and to Heather for making this in a record 1 day! The cover came in the mail the day we got home from the hospital!

Easter Dress - Pom Pom Fascinator

I’ve always loved unique hair fascinators, and without a doubt WhichGoose has to be one of my favorite Etsy sellers. This was a custom order for Evelyn for her Easter dress, and now you can see the whole ensemble.I just can’t get enough of the pom poms.

I still have to sew the jacket but am happy the dress even fit since I spent all last Saturday night sewing it without a pattern! AND, it’s reversable: Thank you Britex Fabric for buying awesome Japanese brocade! Now I’m just kicking myself since I didn’t get enough yardage for a little something pretty for me.

On the left, is purple. To the right is the white reversible.
