These shipped last week for Scottee. The first one’s I’ve printed in Curry, they turned out great for a light ink color!! We’ve got some other pieces worked out to match these that we’ll be blogging about soon, I can’t wait to show. Printed on 110# pearl white paper. 1/0 sized at 2×3.5″.

Anne from Pearls & Lace provided a stunning logo. Sometimes I get projects that I just sit there and drool over because they are so beautiful. Anne’s logo was so great as a jumping off point for her business cards which will be 3/0 letterpress printed pretty darn soon!

We were fortunate enough to have the opportunity to work with Anne and her great logo, and provide business card layouts and design that tied it all together for her. These will be going on press soon and I can hardly WAIT to see the finished piece.

Alexi provided logo and our goal here was to help with layout and typography. These designs were a collaborative effort by myself and one of my designers Sarah. We worked on unifying Lush Sugar with some pattern that was clean and modern and Sarah did a great job making it all work together with Alexi’s logo. The ring pattern used in the final card seemed to hit it right on the mark with the links in her logo. Pantone match on press for Alexi and hand trimmed, these cards were super fun to print in these awesome colors. Thanks Alexi for being so wonderful to work with, and for letting us print your cards!

Kate was envisioning modern, simple and circle patterning. Looking to create a logo or emblem, we wanted to indicate how it would work as an individual piece as well as a cohesive whole with business card. Designs were applied to the 2.5×2.5″ square card – maintaining an equalized boldness with the brand.

I tried to keep it sophisticated yet whimsical and stuck to the bright colors that she had indicated exploring. The small branding package is for 1 color work, but I provided 2 color options for her to consider in addition to the one color designs, just to show how the brand can develop for web presence and other printed material.

Option 1 was a collaborative concept with Jenica (Intern) where I art directed her by introducing her to the client brief and wanted to see what concepts she could come up with on her own. After seeing Jenica’s initial sketches, I provided critique and feedback as to what we should develop for Monica including typographic suggestions. Logo was then developed – adapted from there into print pieces, color scheme & typographic implementation. This was a great project to get Jenica started in the process of how a job starts and transitions through to the different phases in a branding package.

Option 2 was based off of Monica’s suggestion of wanting to see vintage lace with her calligraphy logo. We took a more minimal approach on this design and again stuck with bright colors – green and yellow being Monica’s favorite suggestion.

For the third option we explored a stitched tag emblem as trade seamstresses and tailors often had unique marks or embroidery initials that were left in the garments they made. We explored striping in the background to help bring in texture to the piece (reflecting texture in fabric) when printed and went with a more monochromatic option for the pieces with one complimentary color.

Abby is a very talented photographer and asked us to refresh her brand as well as print her business collateral. We printed A6 2/0 notes on 110# paper, as well as matching printed envelopes along with her business cards and were involved in designing her client CD/DVD that a third-party manufactured for her.

These were some of the final designs presented for Abby before they went on press. She was going for a simple calligraphic swash to tie in her current logo and it’s typography. Sometimes I’ll work with another employee on a project to help them learn the process of design and how it ties into letterpress printing. My employee Makayla is awesome at creating pattern so with some art direction she was able to present a few concepts for Abby’s cards throughout the process. The patterns on the rear of this card specifically were put together by Makayla after briefing her on Abby’s goals for the project and getting feedback from previous rounds. In the end the card was a 2/1 business card, letterpress printed on 220# super thick paper. These letterpress business cards were done for Dawn of Soiree Floral. She had her logo and Soiree Floral typography but needed help tying it into business card layout and design.  The only recommendations were her pantone numbers, the possible exploration of a blind impression, and wanting to see some stripes in the design as a 2.5×2.5″ square letterpress printed card. With her unique logo, I knew it would be so tactile when printed as the tear-drop would reverse out and look embossed when finished.

Her light lavender/plum color scheme was a great change of pace as I haven’t printed purple in ages too. Above is Dawn’s pantone match and below the final printed business set.

Letterpress printed on 110# paper for both pieces, the A6 (4.5×6″) notes were paired with matching un-printed envelopes, and the business cards (2.5×2.5″) were printed as a 2/0 color job with 1/4″ rounded corners. These letterpress business cards shipped awhile back for Anda Marie. She already had her branding established but needed her business collateral printed and wanted it on the super-thick paper. She also needed a little help with her layout, and wanted to tie in a wood-grain pattern as her photography style is very natural, honest and artistic.

Kelly already had her logo so we established layout and typography that was consistent with it. When I was working on these proofs I thought it would be SO awesome to print the brown tones in a matte copper ink in varying shades to make it look similar conceptually to a penny.
