I’m not really sure how I found your blog, but I’m so glad I did. My almost 15 year old daughter is very artistic. She’d rather draw or paint than learn about algebra or literature. Several years ago I lovingly told her she was a dingbat. Of course, she had no clue what a dingbat was so I made her look it up. We still laugh at that definition… a silly, empty-headed person. (yes, I know it’s also a typesetting term!) My incredibly talented (and intelligent) daughter may have her head in clouds, but her own artwork makes this momma quite proud! I can’t wait to see where that creative mind leads her when she’s all grown up!

  • Comment by Adrienne — June 28, 2009 @ 9:08 am

    Cynthia!
Well I’ll have you know that I doodled my way through jr. high and high school to have my Physics teacher tell me the week before we graduated that I was never going to amount to anything in the artistic world, and that it’s not a legitimate profession. “You should be spending your time more wisely.” To which I replied with my 16 year old attitude, “I am spending it wisely. You watch me, I’ll make more than you with my “artistic” salary in 15 years and won’t be stuck teaching obnoxious high school students like myself!” I’m so thankful my parents encouraged my artistic whimsies and commend you for encouraging your daughter’s, can’t wait to see how she impacts the creative world!

Love the aspen! As a fan of Snow & Graham and Egg Press, I was delighted to stumble upon your site. I am 26, and I’ve been an avid epistler (such a fun word, no?) since the fifth grade. I love participating in what is turning into a dying art, and I spend an equal amount of time searching for the perfect cards, gift tags, and other little treasures on which to express my observations and emotions. Thanks for the opportunity to win some goodies!
