You may remember these that we showed back as a sneak peek in October. And then of course I was slow to getting around to blogging the full set of photos! Fifi is from Australia and a recent grad and contacted us in hopes that 1) we shipped internationally, and 2) We accepted designed files for press.

Lucky for her, we do both and were super excited to print these cards for her. Letterpress printed on 220# Arturo as a 2/1 card, I love the softness of the blushy-pink pantone match paired with the sophisticated black ink/black edge paint.

Sized at 2×3.5″ and printed as an initial set of 250 (our minimum opening order for a set of custom or client submitted files) you can get an estimate for yourself here - we are already booking the press for March and April!

A romantic at heart, I LOVE a great classic (especially a Jane Austen). These wedding invitations are part of the new wedding collection we are launching for brides looking for a more budget friendly letterpress option, as custom suites can get expensive quite quick!

The letterpress collection will have flexible pricing so you can choose your paper weight, number of inks, and add in additional wedding suite pieces as well as liners, corner options and edge painting.

Don’t you just love this pretty sparkly ribbon? It is velvet/glitter. Doesn’t get much better than that!

A great way to save money on a letterpress suite is to do the invite as the central piece will all the bells and whistles, followed by the inserts on an economical paper with a single ink color.

Tags are a great way to thank your guests or escort them to their tables.

Here is that sparkly ribbon in plum this time around. Great substitution for a belly band!

We LOVE handwriting and think it is sooo fabulous. If you would like us to use yours that would be really fabulous, just send us a scan of some samples in how your letters connect as well as a few alphabets in upper case, lower case and small caps.

In case there was hesitation with the gold/plum combo our letterpress wedding line can be done in any color pairing that suits your fancy. This suite was printed on 110# Lettra paper, two inks – plum and matte antique gold, and paired with ribbon and plum envelopes.

This card was fun to research and find an appropriate saying to pair with it. In the end I decided that religious or not, we can all agree that its not easy being a saint – especially when there is work to get done, or beds to be made, or children that need feeding. But having the right attitude can sure make a difference in the outcome of any chore or task. Saint or not, what are your dreaded tasks that could use a morning prayer or glass of wine at the end of the day?

This card makes me chuckle. When designing it, I intended to portray the image that good kings are best served when they serve their people. But when it came off press I kept wanting to read it instead of true kings serve their people well but as true kings serve their people hell. Because really; what king hasn’t served hell to some degree on a silver platter throughout history?

This was a rare request that we were excited to be a part of. While I haven’t traveled out of the US (with the exception of Toronto which I LOVED), working with international clients (or foreign languages) for that matter provides some interesting challenges but also intriguing solutions. A client recently inquired about calligraphy calling cards and wanted us to do her name in Cyrillic. I immediately contact the head of Society of Scribes and emailed probably everyone on that contact list inquiring about a Cyrillic calligrapher. To my dismay, there were none to be found! Google proved fruitless. I tried to hack a Spencerian script but it really wasn’t getting close to what we were going for, and me being the Idahoan that I am was as close to Russia as finding a native palm tree in our state.

So the search ensued. I have system fonts on my computer that have Cyrillic Alphabets but I wanted to show you all a few options that are beautiful if you are typesetting in Cyrillic. I’m sure there are many more out there and maybe I’m just challenged – but a few of my favorites from Veer were these:

If you’ve typeset in Cyrillic, what did you use? Did you like it? How was it different from the English alphabet when typesetting? I’d love to see some wood or lead type in Cyrillic – that would be awesome!

You can find Jessica on Twitter at home or go direct to the drop cap goodness here. Man I wish I had these typography skills. Now I need to break out the sketchbook again and start working on my drop cap styling. You are my type-idol Jessica!
