The Dingbat’s Agenda

Can I just say, that before you look at these photos of me too closely remember that I draw in my eyebrows every day – this face always needs work on the eyes to look like I’m not a zombie. On an additional note: I don’t normally look this good – its the magic of the photographer (and a good friend) whom I refer to as Geri Girl. She’s done both sets of business portraits and as long as she comes back to visit Idaho, I’ll always invite her up to the mountains to photograph the studio and my kids, and to update the business portraits so you can indeed see that I am aging (and looking forward to 30)!

2011 – I think it fitting to indicate that although I love my work, it wouldn’t be half as rewarding without the chaos of children running around the house and in the studio. Everything I do, whether intentional or not, impacts their life. Something hopefully that will be remembered in a way of work, play and love (and maybe not in that order of significance either). This year (our 6th year in business) we attended National Stationery Show and launched a debut collection. Our oldest son started kindergarten and rocked type 1 diabetes – he was a top student all year and likes to have fun playing star wars at recess. Our daughter learned to whistle and sings the Tangled soundtrack regularly. Her favorite number is “1-dee-2″ and she tells me like it is, “percept” when she is trying to hide something from her mother.

I’m a woman. I’m undiagnosed ADD, diagnosed mother, un-registered nurse to type 1 diabetic & celiac children, graphic designer & letterpress printer. Outside of my perfect love for my kids, my next favorite would have to be my love for heavy machinery, nature wash, all things letterpress and of course my husband! 2010 brought the purchases of new equipment (a heidelberg windmill named Henrietta) and the move from the basement into a designated 25×25″ studio space that we finished out for Dingbat Press. We have survived our first two years of diabetes in our family and are moving at the speed of light trying to have as much fun as we possibly can (work permitting ;)

I’d like to think I know it all; but in actuality, I am just starting to fully understand the meaning behind “the older I get, the less I know.” I am truly humbled at all the amazing design talent, professionals, and every-day humans in the world today. They continually teach and inspire me to move forward in every living thing – striving for progression and growth toward better humanity,  knowledge, and happiness. Here I hope to post my findings, developments and eccentricities from a Dingbat’s Perspective.

Ephemera and stationery that I print and sell are to make other people’s lives happy. Letterpress love is really what it’s all about around here!
