Most of the letterpress work I have been printing lately consists of wedding invitations and special events. The main question I have of brides starting out is how to word their invitation and best convey the mood/formality of the wedding event. So as you may see I’m taking cues from the pantone color predictions that have been coming out this year. Starting at fashion week and panning out, much of the color forecast is now turning up in all the latest product. While blue is rising the charts quickly, I have been excited about the color blackberry that was in January’s lineup color PDF on the pantone site. I just have to say that I wished I lived in Seattle because blackberries are abundant there, and here in my small and rural plat of earth I pay close to 6 bucks for a small carton of blackberries. I now understand why my first art courses in school were called Foundation Art : Fundamentals in Drawing. After what seems like ages of life spent on the computer, and many eye exams & prescriptions later, I’m really relishing the fact that I haven’t totally lost touch with my drawing skillz. That’s not to say I woudn’t LOVE to take all of my drawing classes over a second or third time, but that it’s nice to pick up the sketch book and refresh myself. With the age of stock art and photography, it seems even more pertinent to not use them as a crutch (witch I whole-heartedly admit to resorting to on certain occasions, yes I have flaws).
